Huawei Mate 70 series sales may be lower than Mate 60 in Q4: Report
Huawei Mate 70 series is official with exciting features but it seems the new lineup won’t reach up to the mark in sales, at least in Q4 2024. Several tech analysts and reports are claiming that the latest flagship could struggle in the market this year.
No, the problem is not tight supply but ‘fading consumers interest’ in the new smartphones. A recent prediction by TechInsights noted that Huawei Mate 70 models may struggle to even match the Mate 60 sales in the fourth quarter (Q4) of this year.
TechInsights predicts that Huawei Mate 70 series sales could be lower than that of Mate 60 series in Q4 2024. The device may only reach 3 million unit shipments, accounting for 22% of the company’s smartphone sales in the fourth quarter of this year.
Notably, the figure 3 million hints that the tech giant may only sell those models that are already booked by consumers. Perhaps there won’t be any additional sales of the Huawei Mate 70 series except for delivering the reserved handsets.
Some analysts also mentioned that the Mate 70 series is getting slightly less attention than its predecessor. A major reason behind this lack of attention is Huawei’s comeback in the Chinese smartphone market.
During the Mate 60 series launch, Huawei has been extremely struggling with the US sanctions. In such a phase, the return of Kirin 5G appeared as a miracle to everyone and led to booming sales of the flagship lineup. Despite a tight supply, the devices managed to sell around 14 million units to date.
But at present, Huawei has regained its value in the smartphone market. This has increased consumers’ expectations for Huawei products. As per the report, consumers see fewer improvements in the new Mate 70 series over the previous-gen models which seemingly didn’t impress them much.
On the other hand, consumers were expecting a more powerful chip with the new models. But Kirin 9020 could impact “Mate 70’s competitiveness” in the market.
TechInsights also says that Huawei has missed golden opportunities in sales by not launching the Mate 70 models during the Double 11 shopping festival.
However, this is just one side of the coin. Let’s check the other one.
Mate 70 series is still in the pre-order stage. The lineup will go on sale on 4 December. It has already crossed over 3 million reservations for its smart AI features, newly crafted design, and top-of-the-line hardware capabilities.
On the other hand, the company might unveil the new Mate lineup in the global market this time. The global debut will eventually result in robust Mate 70 sales as the company skipped the Mate 60 worldwide release following US strict sanctions.
Hence, things could take any possible turn in the coming days. Let’s wait and see how the Mate 70 series wins hearts in this fiercely competitive market.
