BOE and Visionox supplied OLED display for Huawei Mate 60 series
Two of the top display panel makers in China – BOE and Visionox supplied OLED display panels for the Huawei Mate 60 series flagship, reveals a supply chain report.
The standard Huawei Mate 60 uses a 6.69-inch OLED screen. It has a 1-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and 300Hz touch sampling rate. This screen also delivers a FHD+ (2688 x 1216 pixels) resolution.
Huawei Mate 60 Pro sports a slightly larger 6.82-inch OLED screen with an adaptive LTPO refresh rate, 1440Hz high PWM dimming, and 300Hz touch sampling rate. Due to the changed dimensions, the Pro version packs a 2720 x 1260 pixels resolution.
Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ and Mate 60 RS Ultimate Design are using the same screen as the Pro variant. Talking about the design, the Pro version also features a subtle and equal quad-curve screen.
Currently, the Huawei Mate 60 series is doing robust sales in China. Not only for Huawei but it’s also a good time for suppliers to do good business. The demand for new Huawei devices has been running at an all-time high since 2020.
According to Chinese research firm – CINNO Research, Huawei’s demand for flexible OLED screens could reach about 50-60 million units by next year. The research firm also predicts that the Huawei Mate 60 series could occupy about 15-20 million units of OLED screens mainly supplied by BOE and Visionox.
In the first half of 2023, BOE’s flexible OLED shipment exceeded 50 million units. It is an 80% year-on-year increase as compared to last year. The jump in sales also helped the company to overcome its past losses. Data revealed that Visionox achieved revenue of 2.693 billion yuan and a net profit loss of 1.634 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 42.35%.
After US sanctions, Huawei’s smartphone market saw a sharp decline. By 2022, the entire premium and high-end market captured by Apple, reduce Huawei completely from the tally. This damaged Huawei and also its supply chain partners. But the recent demand for the Huawei Mate 60 series is allowing all suppliers to return to regain progress.
