Chinese phone makers will use HarmonyOS? Insider clarifies
Recently, there are some rumors appeared among Chinese bloggers that Chinese phone makers could soon launch HarmonyOS smartphones. On this matter, we also have an insiders take to clear the doubts.
It’s said that joining the HarmonyOS ecosystem doesn’t mean that the ecosystem partners must have to launch HarmonyOS phones. However, it gives a massive opportunity for the ecosystem members to cooperate with each other on IoT products.
Chinese phone with HarmonyOS:
A Chinese tech insider said that launching a HarmonyOS phone would bring an end to other’s ecosystems. This is a big decision and could change many scenarios. The insider notes that from a business point of view, this seems impossible for the time being.
He also mentioned that the use of an operating system is like a foundation for a building. This is very important to provide a better user experience.
Android and iOS:
The insider elaborates that Android and iOS are the two most popular smartphone software. In comparison, HarmonyOS is still in the early stage of development.
Ecosystem development:
However, there’s a clear acknowledgment of the potential of HarmonyOS and other devices. But it seems like the industry wants to see the peak of its growth.
That’s where the companies are showing the main concerns and Huawei itself doesn’t differ. However, the tech maker is actively working with developers to kick in more apps and services for HarmonyOS smartphones.
So, that others can adopt the HarmonyOS operating system and use them on all of the platforms including phones.
Short-time big growth:
Launched in 2019, HarmonyOS is designed and developed by Huawei and has multi-kernel architecture. By the end of 2022, HarmonyOS achieved 330 million installations in Huawei smartphones.
This is by far the fastest growth made by any mobile operating system in such a short time.
Super Large IoT domain:
Aside from smartphones, Huawei has already launched over 250 million third-party smart home, IoT, and electronics devices with HarmonyOS Connect. This is a HarmonyOS-derived operating system specially designed to run on the lowest 128kb of memory. With such low hardware requirements, HarmonyOS is rapidly gaining new users.
Looking at the data, 2+ million developers joined the HarmonyOS ecosystem and the company is working with over 2200 partners.
Win-win situation:
For now, we can come up with the understanding that Chinese phone makers may not use the HarmonyOS operating system. However, they can participate in the ecosystem to reach more buyers. So, it’s a win-win situation for all partners.
