EMUI 11 vs HarmonyOS 2: Dark Mode comparison
If HarmonyOS 2 is the new tree of innovation, then EMUI could be called the root that builds that tree. Yeah, it’s true, HarmonyOS 2 is heavily inspired by the EMUI software and shares the same ecosystem.
However, HarmonyOS 2 is the successor and EMUI is a predecessor, both facts are true and will remain unchanged. With a giant upgrade plan, Huawei has already begun shifting users on HarmonyOS 2 from EMUI 11.
Therefore, it’s good to make a comparison between EMUI and HarmonyOS. We’ve initiated the HarmonyOS 2 comparison series with iOS 14 and now it’s time we jump on the counterpart – EMUI 11.
Similar to the previous, the EMUI 11 vs HarmonyOS 2 dark mode comparison also be based on the Dark Mode feature, and both of these software systems will be evaluated in terms of the following section of the user interface.
- Quick Settings
- Settings Menu – Menu icons and view
- Apps – Clock, Gallery, and Dial
EMUI 11:
Millions of users run EMUI 11 on their Huawei devices, and the user interface of the Android-based EMUI version doesn’t disappoint the consumers. Talking specifically about the Dark Mode feature, the EMUI 11 UI appearance remains the same as EMUI 10.1 including a translucent background on the quick settings and high-contrast colors in both the Settings menu.
These old color schemes required changes in the theme section and one more thing, it doesn’t come with a dark mode schedule, which I missed the most but introduced in HarmonyOS 2.

HarmonyOS 2:
In comparison to EMUI 11, HarmonyOS 2 brings better colors that don’t irritate your eyes and allows you to play with your smartphone for long hours without turning off the dark mode features.
As mentioned before, the redefined color system of HarmonyOS 2 lets you view the exact information such as icons and labels. The colors are not too bright nor too dull, as it implements a mixture that suits the user’s eyes for prolonged hours.

Conclusion:
EMUI 11 surely has a dark mode that allows you to use the phone more than usual but HarmonyOS 2 provides you a real eye comfort experience that leads you to an extent.
