HarmonyOS 4.2 public beta rolling out for Huawei Pocket 2 and 23 other devices
Huawei has released the all-new HarmonyOS 4.2 public beta software upgrade for 25 flagship devices including the newly launched Pocket 2 foldable phone. The company started rolling out the firmware and it will approach eligible handsets in China.
The new HarmonyOS 4.2 software system carries version 4.2.0.110 and a massive package size of 6.81 Gigabytes. It is better to opt for a standard Wi-Fi/internet connection and sufficient storage space before proceeding with the installation process.
For a few weeks, the Chinese tech giant has been working with a new HarmonyOS software. Huawei even initiated a new beta program for its top flagship smartphones and tablets. As of now, the respective activity has made progress, allowing more users to test the latest enhancements ahead of the official rollout.

Note that HarmonyOS 4.2 offers display optimizations to those devices that are running on the baseline version 4.0.0.202. Meanwhile, if you have the 4.0.0.130/132 build number, then this upgrade would be no less than a surprise with new features.

User Interface:
- The Interactive theme can change the custom background when cutting out pictures, which will bring more room for creativity.
- Polishes the operation details of more scenarios to make visual effects, prompts, etc. more refined and accurate
System:
- Improves the Tiantong satellite connection speed, making it faster and smoothes the communication (Only applicable to Mate 60 series)
- Optimizes the user experience while capturing images and previewing them.
- Improves the user experience in various scenarios such as application startup, task switching, sliding, interrupting animations, etc., giving you a smoother and smoother operating feel.
- Optimize the global search experience and make the home screen pull-down feature smoother
- Added a new WLAN network automatic connection tab, which can individually control whether to auto-connect to previously connected WLAN networks.
- Added a new Bluetooth device recording switch. When recording from a distance, you can connect Huawei headphones to record via Bluetooth to get better quality recording.
Security:
- Obtains device orientation permissions by controlling the app and adds an in-app ‘Shake’ ad jump that offers a more pure app usage experience.
- Integrates a device-cloud cooperation mechanism to achieve more accurate and faster control of malicious apps.
- Added an anti-false alarm feature to smartly identify viruses and risky applications, making HarmonyOS more pure and secure

- Brings permissions for newly installed third-party apps to make notification perception easier for consumers.
