Huawei is collecting knowledge to manufacture in-house semiconductor
Huawei is establishing new Research and Development (R&D) centers to develop self-reliance technology and not only that the company is also looking to gear up its technical knowledge to build semiconductor in China.
According to industry sources, HiSilicon, Huawei’s chip-making subsidiary, has been ramping up its chipset order for 7nm and other advanced node products at TSMC, as the firm is boosting efforts to build up its own in-house IC development capability, reported DigiTimes.
The previous report shows, Huawei’s smartphone market share in China is currently on a surge and highest of among its competitors, to complete the shipments the company need more chips on time and adopting in-house development will be good for the company but there’s no confirmation available when it will gonna happen.
Moreover, the upcoming Mate 30 series flagship will be using the 7nm EUV processed Kirin 985 processors and also a 5G integrated chipset for 5G variant, both of these will be manufactured by TSMC.
