We are the first to report that one of the biggest issues that Huawei’s operating system identified as Hongmeng, will face is its app ecosystem and a similar tone was recently heard from the company’s founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei.

Huawei’s OS supports different devices, already operational for some phones in China: Ren Zhengfei

Ren told in an interview published on French Magazine “Le Point”, compared to Apple and Google, we still lack a good application ecosystem. That will take a few years to be established at a high level with the help of developers.

“For now we’ve no intentions to replace Android but what if Google’s system is no longer open to Huawei, are we going to build an ecosystem for our OS? It’s yet to be decided at 100%,” said Ren.

Moreover, he said Hongmeng OS is very likely to be faster than Android and Mac OS. And not only designed for smartphones but also to work with various devices.

Back in May, the US blacklisted Huawei, restricting the company from accessing US technologies including the Android and Windows. As currently being served under 90 days reprieve.

Last week, on the sidelines of G20 summit in Japan, the US president Donal Trump announced ease in trade restrictions on Huawei, allowing U.S. firms including Google to resume its services to Huawei but the final check is yet to be made by the Commerce Department on this process.
