Tipster Evan Blass previously shared some insights on the Huawei Mate P40 Pro and now he has brought some news regarding the non-Pro version.

According to the tipster, Huawei Mate 40 (codename – Ocean) not likely to enter wider marketing compared to the Mate 40 Pro. This means the Mate 40 will be launched in the limited countries due to the shortage of the upcoming flagship Kirin processor.

Currently, Huawei is under the U.S. restriction and cannot print its new Kirin chipset design through Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer BG, confirmed last week that discontinuation of high-end Kirin chipset manufacturing will begin after September 15, 2020. Meanwhile, orders placed before September 15 at TSMC will be delivered to Huawei.

Huawei Mate 40 series will come with 5nm processed Kirin 9000 processor, Huawei could release this new chipset at IFA 2020 event in early September, which will be followed by HDC 2020 and then Huawei Mate 40 series.

A previous report suggests that the Huawei Mate 40 Pro (codename – Noah) will be launched with EMUI 11 but the Mate 40 (non-Pro) will come with EMUI 10.x.

We’ll keep you posted with further updates.
