DXOMARK today published a new camera evaluation result for the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ flagship, announcing this phone as a leader in smartphone photography with a top score.

DXOMARK has evaluated the Mate 60 Pro+ for the rear camera and gave 157 points. This is above the Huawei P60 Pro, the previous top rank holder, with 156 points, and the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max/Pro with 154 points for the third spot.

The evaluator ranked Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ with 160 points for photographs, 80 points for Bokeh, 83 points for preview, 152 points for zoom level, and 148 points for video recording.

It points out that the smartphone has better indoor and outdoor photo and video shooting capability in daylight conditions. It can also capture better portrait and family scenarios.

Camera Specifications:

Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ equips a triple camera system including a main 48MP camera with variable aperture technology ranging between f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture. The secondary is a 40MP ultra wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture. And the third one is a 48MP super macro telephoto camera with f/3.0 aperture.

Pros and Cons:

DXOMARK mentioned that the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ camera section draws a very wide dynamic range, with good exposure to portraits and landscape shots. It can deliver nice colors in most conditions. The camera has a good texture/noise trade-off in photos and zooms with low noise levels. It can auto-focus with good video stabilization. The variable aperture has optimized depth of field for different scenarios.

The background of a photograph has a good blur effect and subject isolation in portrait mode. The macro mode also has a zoomed-in view of the object. Looking at the cons, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro+ may lose the details in high-contrast and low-light videography. The noise in indoor and low-light videos with motion appears randomly.

Meanwhile, the face contrast and skin tones may not appear better in backlit scenarios. Photo and video may also shoot ghosting, hue shift, or color quantization.
