Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate teardown reveals Kirin 9020 chip design
A Weibo tipster has recently performed a teardown of the Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate model and revealed the design of the Kirin 9020 chip. This time, the new processor is bigger and thicker than its previous version and adopted a cleaner layout.
Huawei launched the Mate 70 series on November 26. Hereafter, several tipsters bought the new models to disassemble them, inspect the chip details, explore the software experience, and see what’s inside these brand-new powerful handsets.
Now a tipster shared the video of Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate teardown, showing its internal architecture, Kirin 9020 chipset design, and other major details.
After dismantling the device, the tipster says the company has impressively arranged all the components inside the device. It seems like a realistic art in the phone!

As you can see in the picture given, all components such as cameras, SoCs, circuits, and sensors, are arranged systematically. It gives a vintage feel in the first look.
Speaking of the chipset, the tipster mentioned that the Kirin 9020 is bigger and thicker than its predecessors (Kirin 9000s). The tipster even compared both chips’ sizes by overlapping them. You can check the image below.
Kirin 9020 chip design appears quite advanced and sophisticated. The new chipset will offer more improved performance than the previous generation processor.
The tipster further mentioned that the Mate 70 RS adopts a premium-level titanium basalt material which eventually doubles its drop-resistance over the predecessor.
Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design provides 20 times higher drop resistance than ordinary tempered glass. Other details such as which component belongs to which supplier and more are currently under the hood. Though we may soon get some more information on this matter.
