Huawei Mate X3 will bring 7.85 inch main display, smaller than Mate X2
Huawei will launch Mate X3 on March 23, and the company has revealed that this phone will feature a 7.85-inch main foldable display, which is slightly smaller than its predecessor.
Input coming from Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) shows that Huawei Mate X3 will come with a 7.85 inch main foldable display. Once closed, the phone will help users to operate with a 6.45-inch cover screen.
With a comparison, we’ve found that Huawei Mate X2 was launched with an 8-inch main display, which is slightly reduced in Mate X3 at 7.85 inch. This is due to the latest development made to strip down the size and weight of the entire device.
According to the teaser, Huawei is promoting a light Mate X3 and the reduced screen size would allow the company to cut some weight in the body. Other than the screen size, Huawei is also using new heat management technology that will further eliminate body weight.
With an 8 inch display, Huawei installed Mate X2 with 16.7 million colors, an OLED flexible panel, a 90Hz refresh rate, 180 Hz touch sampling rate, and a screen resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels. However, these stats are likely to change with a sliced Mate X3.
Furthermore, we can expect Huawei to upscale the screen refresh rate to 120Hz. As this is the least new improvement that is now common in flagship devices.
Notably, Huawei left the cover untouched and it still stands at 6.45 inches. It could mean that Huawei reduced the bezels around the phone and also found a way to cut down some space from the sides to come up with a new internal screen.
UTG:
Ross also revealed that Huawei Mate X3 will use new UTG or ultra-thin glass to protect the display. Also, this will be Chinese-made UTG, of which, we reported before.
UTG or Ultra-Thin Glass is an ultra-thin flexible glass cover, mostly used in foldable screen smartphones. its flexible outer glass protection sheet is made of an ultra-thin flexible glass substrate.
Volume:
Lastly, it’s suggested Huawei has a large volume production for Mate X3, which is a good sign. Ross further incorporated that in terms of the production of foldable phones, Huawei is only second to Samsung.
