Huawei Watch GT 5 is the first device to run HarmonyOS 5
Huawei has announced Watch GT 5 series for global customers and it’s revealed that these smartwatches are packed with the HarmonyOS 5.0 operating system.
This revelation is interesting as the company has only released HarmonyOS 4.x for smartwatches. Its recent smartwatches come with HarmonyOS 4 and upgraded to 4.2 with a software update.
That explains that the Huawei Watch GT 5 series is the first to run HarmonyOS 5 out of the box.
This lineup consists of two models – GT 5 and GT 5 Pro. Both 41mm and 46mm versions come with different watch faces and themes to customize the user experience. Some of these themes are interactive and provide you with touch interactions.
The UI animations are improved as well. These watches are packed with new fitness features. That includes Trail run mode supporting segment-based navigation, off-course alerts, contour lines, and crown-controlled zoomable maps.
The watch has 50 meters of water resistance and software will enable deep dive capabilities with pro-level features such as a hover timer, water type identification, safety reminders, and apnea training.
These devices have added a sunflower positioning system with Huawei’s algorithm to track the satellite signal and show pinpoints on your watch.
The software has the Stay Fit app, which calculates calorie deficit and logs calories from meals. The watch operating system also supports more than 100 workout modes and the new Activity Rings 2.0 gives access to all of your daily activities at a glance.
Furthermore, new emotional well-being will show you an immersive animated mood through a panda. This feature is powered by TruSense and suggests you exercise to feel better.
