Latest WhatsApp beta brings disappearing mode and status backup optimizations
WhatsApp has recently released two new version of its beta application, including 2.21.13.3 and 2.21.13.6. These WhatsApp beta applications add a new disappearing mode message as well as optimization to save the device’s storage.
Disappearing Mode:
This feature allows users to increase privacy on their chats and all-new chats will begin with disappearing messages. Once enabled, the chatroom will now show a particular message:
“You are using disappearing mode for all-new chats. Messages in this chat will disappear for everyone 7 days after they’re sent.”
This message informs the user that the feature is on and the rest of the chat will disappear after a certain time.
The new Disappearing Mode message will help to acknowledge user why a new chat is set as disappearing mode.
Status updates excluded from the backups:
Backup is an important feature that allows you to save all of the important data on local or cloud storage. Also, WhatsApp has recently introduced end-to-end backup encryption, which increases, the overall device chat backup security.
Currently, Whatsapp includes all of your updates inside the backup archive, so you can find them in one file. However, this chat app maker is now planning to decouple some of the backup features that aim to cut down the size of the backup and reduce the weight for storage optimization.
To do this, WhatsApp is removing the inclusion of status updates inside the chat backup.
Under development:
Both of these features are under development and available for the beta testers, as their general availability will be decided with the rollout of the stable app version.
