New Huawei flip phone will bring large cover screen
In 2021, Huawei launched its first flip-style foldable phone, P50 Pocket, and the Chinese tech maker is now preparing to unveil another smartphone in the category with a large cover screen.
The latest revelation is coming from a design patent, which gives us important insights into what the upcoming foldable phone will offer on the table. From the above, we can observe that this is a major upgrade for the genre and it will provide more productivity.
Let’s dive into the details.
New Huawei flip phone:
The design clearly shows that Huawei has focused majorly on the rear side of the phone. This includes a large screen for interactions. Once closed, the panel reaches up to the hinge. Similarly, it is expanded to the very bottom.
The right side has sharp corners (top and bottom right). Innovatively, the display is matching round corners (bottom left) in alignment with the frame’s curvature. Also, a small round edge can be seen in the top left corner. The use of customized corners will the company to utilize all of the space on the cover to fill it with the screen.
The new cover display is taking up about 65 to 75% of the rear side, which is amazing. The rest of the space is occupied by the camera module. Looking at the predecessors, the P50 Pocket and Pocket S, both of these phones are using a small 1.04-inch cover screen. The new approach expands the reach and visibility, taking it to the next level.
Camera
There are two vertically arranged cameras on the right side of the screen. There is no LED flash printed for the time being. To be mentioned, the current generation of Huawei flip phone brings a triple rear camera structure.
Oppo Find N2 Flip
This phone has gathered the attention of many people around the globe. All of this publicity is generated with the second large screen. For that, you must have to praise the Chinese phone maker.
Still, the cover screen is round from all corners and leaves unused space on all sides. But Huawei has already decided to provide a seamless secondary screen viewing experience with a high screen-to-body ratio. This is a major difference between the two devices.
Main display, sides, and hinge
The design also shows a shift in the side button layout, which includes a volume rocker on the right. While a lock button is shifted to the left (while unfolded). In Huawei P50 Pocket, the company filed a fingerprint-embedded power button beneath the volume keys. It seems like the company wants to make it more convenient for the operator to wake up the display from the right thumb when the device is folded.
Furthermore, the new design shows no signs of a selfie on the main display. It is possibly relying on the main camera for this task. The hinge system is also improved, there are no gaps noted in the mechanism in the design patent.
Conclusion:
For now, we can’t confirm this as an official or final design for a new Huawei flip-style foldable. But it is a worthy contender to get the first slot in the production pipeline.
