Samsung could launch first rollable phone, following Huawei tri-fold
Following Huawei Mate XT, Samsung is now in the news to soon launch a rollable phone. The South Korean firm looks ready to challenge the world’s first triple-folding handset with an extraordinary rolling foldable phone in the time ahead.
TheElec reports that Samsung could introduce the world’s first rollable phone next year. It seems the company is slightly shifting its focus towards a rolling foldable amid the S25 series development. Yet the device won’t debut as early as H2 2025.
Samsung already showcased its rollable phone prototype “Rollable Flex” during the CES 2024 event. Perhaps the company is now planning to bring this creation into the real world with a giant screen, advanced specs, and top-of-the-line features.
Inputs further reveal that the Samsung rollable-style phone may equip a 12.4-inch display, bigger than the Huawei Mate XT. It may get fully rolled out form for a compact feel on hands. The next major addition seems an under-display selfie shooter.
The name of this innovation is unclear for now. Although it might launch in the place of Galaxy Z Fold 7 next year. What else Samsung will adopt for its rollable device is a currently secret. Yet the aim would surely be to challenge Huawei’s tri-fold.
Mate XT – the world’s first tri-fold!
Huawei has become an ultimate foldable maker after launching the first-ever triple-foldable. Despite three screens, the device is 12.8mm thick when folded, slightly less than Galaxy Z Fold 6 but appears equal in live image, Check HERE.
Note that Huawei has also been in rumors for over two years to introduce a rollable-display phone. Months-ago report suggested that the company may launch such a device this year. Though the space is occupied by Mate XT. But who knows, the company could also bring a rollable device next year.
After the Mate developer, tech makers like Honor, Samsung, and Xiaomi are planning to jump into the sea of innovation. The Magic V3 maker is said to bring a 10mm thick tri-fold, thinner than Mate XT. Samsung, on the other hand, will turn to “rollable”.
This says the upcoming foldable phone market is going to be interesting and may ignite more fierce competition. It would be worth seeing who grabs the crown of the second smartphone maker in the innovative foldable race.
