Yu Chengdong promoted as Chairman of Huawei Intelligent Automotive Business

After a number of reports, Huawei officially promoted Yu Chengdong as the chairman of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution Business Unit. He was serving as the CEO of this division and is now sent to an upper rank with robust business performance.

The new CEO of the Intelligent Automotive Solution Business Unit will be Jin Yuzhi, who is the president of Huawei’s optical product line. From the current point of view, Yu Chengdong has multiple job roles and responsibilities including the following.

Executive Director, CEO of the Consumer BG, Chairman of the Intelligent Automotive Solution BU, Director of the Investment Review Board for Smart Devices and Intelligent Automotive Components. The CEO rank has been removed from his official profile.

Focus on smartphones:

Industry analysts believe that this move is taken to give Yu some time to focus on the smartphone business. This could be due to the regrowth in the smartphone business, which appeared after the launch of the Mate 60 series.

To be mentioned, Yu Chengdong is known for his leadership in the brand’s upbringing since the very beginning, especially in the consumer business. However, after the US ban, he was majorly involved in the smart car business but now, he may have been focusing back on the smartphone business to seize the market trend.
